CNC Machinist (2nd Shift)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Bay City, MI. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to manufacture high-quality precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate has experience with CNC machining, blueprint reading, machine setup, and precision measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and operate CNC machining equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
• Produce precision-machined parts that meet quality and dimensional specifications.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring tools.
• Make machine adjustments as needed to maintain product quality.
• Operate and monitor one or more CNC machines during production.
• Inspect finished parts and complete required quality documentation.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment in good working condition.
• Troubleshoot minor machining or tooling issues.
• Follow company safety procedures and quality standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and team members to improve production efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1–2+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC machines.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints.
• Experience with precision measuring tools, including:
  • Calipers
  • Micrometers
  • Depth micrometers
  • Gauge pins
• Knowledge of machining tolerances and quality inspection processes.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work the 2nd shift.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with 3-axis and/or 5-axis CNC machining.
• Mastercam or CAD/CAM experience.
• Familiarity with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine).
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standards.
• Experience with various cutting tools, including end mills, ball nose cutters, bull nose cutters, chamfer mills, and drills.
• Basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance experience.
